This weeks work of Art - Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Geoerges Seurat. Its not modern or controversial, but I love this and am looking to buy a recreation in oil of this. A much underrated artist is Mr Seurat. I believe he used "dots" to create the image rather than traditional painterly styles. Posted by Hello

I love the works of art of this genre (okay to my shame I thought it was a Manet). I have just spent five minutes totally immersed. I want to be there...okay so there was a lot of depravation the period it depicts and perhaps at the time they didn't feel things were simple but sitting in my office watching the traffic hurtling past, this is an idyll. It is beautifully captured. Well thats me for the rest of the day!

Thanks , the weekly art slot seems to be a good additional feature that is well received, and besides its hard not to get cheered up by good art.

Hi Jack, do you think the woman on the right might be heard to say..... "Does my bum look big in this?" or is that just me?

Cheers Strings.
