Euro Footie Comment......
Tonight we saw the Mighty Germans play out a 0-0 draw against a battling side in nthe "minnows" of Latvia. Right after this was the game of the tournament and probably the best international match for some years. The Czech Republic beat Holland 3-2 in a real end to end thriller, with 37 shots on goal, a sending off (unjustified), fantastic striking of the ball, great passing and top class goalkeeping. But what really made it stand out was that Holland had a 2-0 lead and the Czechs fought back with 3 quality goals. This means the Czechs are through to the quarter finals and means Germany must beat them to go through. If they draw and Holland beat Latvia then Holland will progress, which would be the fairest result as the Dutch played a much more open and skilful game than the Germans. I hope the England boys were watching.
No blogs for a few days now as I am playing golf for the next 2 days at the annual company golf bash. The company always match the proceeds of the days and last year 60-odd golfers raised in excess of £4000 for charity, which the company doubled. This year we are playing the Belfry and quite frankly I'm shitting myself. I'm taking about 30 balls just in case!

Before you all start sucking Svens cock, we have just beaten the Mighty Croatia and the Awesome Swiss. Get some fucking perspective - I'll will be only too happy to eat Humble Pie as I previously stated, but we have only reached the quarters which is the best we've done apart from '66 (final) and '90 (semis). And we're playing the hosts so it won't be as easy as the last two. Lets hope we actually can win this and put something up France, Germany and Italy's pipes (and mine too if necessary)

The mighty Swiss and awesome Croatia? When you get to the last 16 teams in Europe there are no easy games and no slouches go watch a re-run of Croatia and France and see how the Croatians picked France apart in the second half. Check out the Italian crash as well, ideally buy some football books and learn something. You put these teams down at your peril. Granted the hosts will be a harder task thats the nature of the quarters but this England side is hitting form and playing football as well as anyone else, losing to Portugal in the quarters is no disgraceful way to exit. We will see.

Passionate reply! Yes I did throw my toys out of the pram a bit so small apologies for that. But I will not change my views (again I refer to the Humble Pie comments). You see I'm a real fan, probably just like you. Christ I even argue with fellow Chelsea fans because thats what football does for people. My views may be controversial and piss you off, but empty? Pathetic? In reality no-ones views are empty, all are valid, if not sound. I reserve the right to criticise my club and country and anyone else I want. It's called free speech and you are also welcome to exercise it. Even if we win, I'd prefer an English coach because I believe passion is a necessary trait at this level, but I'd still be glad to win because like most footie fans I'm also mercenary and will take victory HOWEVER it comes.
As for the Italians, well they need to look at their football culture because their overly defensive way of playing is what has stitched them up this time. Good riddance to them, and hopefully the Germans.
